Storm Update: Where We Stand and How We Can Help
On Tuesday, August 11, a severe storm struck Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, with wind gusts reaching 99 mph. Many communities remain without power, and damage to buildings, roofs, and signage is extensive.
First and foremost, we hope you, your teams, and your families are safe.
Where ROEDA stands
Our facility also lost power, and service was restored this morning, Friday, August 14, at 8:30 AM, after a three-day outage.
Our team is currently restoring office and production systems. Please expect delays across all departments as we address the backlog, including existing orders and quotes.
We are prioritizing projects in the order received and will contact you directly if your timeline is affected. Thank you for your patience as we resume normal operations.
Free sign diagnostics for storm-affected businesses
If your sign was damaged in Tuesday's storm, we are offering free on-site diagnostics to businesses and organizations in the affected area.
A ROEDA technician will visit your site, assess your sign, and provide a detailed quote at no cost and with no obligation.
To schedule, call 708.333.3021.
Before you inspect your own sign
Please keep the following in mind as you inspect your property:
Assume illuminated signs are live. Cabinet signs, channel letters, and pylons carry electrical service. If a sign face is cracked or a cabinet is exposed to weather, turn off the circuit at the breaker before approaching.
A leaning pole indicates a structural issue, not just a cosmetic one. Wind can compromise the footing or pole even if the sign face appears undamaged.
Secure any overhead signage. A damaged sign above a sidewalk or parking area remains a liability until stabilized.
Do not attempt to remove hanging faces or panels yourself. They are often heavier than they appear and may still be anchored.
Photograph all damage before cleanup, including wide shots and close-ups from multiple angles. Insurers will request documentation, and it is difficult to reconstruct events once debris is removed.
We're here when you're ready
We recognize this will be a challenging period for many businesses in the Region. ROEDA has served this area since 1954 and has supported customers through previous storms.
Please contact us when you are ready.
